A CUB Scout leader who has clocked up a quarter of a century of service has been rewarded for his dedication.
Chris Suddess has enjoyed a lifetime with the Scouting movement, joining the 2nd Bishop Auckland group as an eight-year-old cub and taking the leader's warrant at 18.
For the past 20 years his wife Michelle has served as his assistant, joining in the activities and serving up meals at dozens of cub camps.
Now the couple want to spend more time with their own children, Kirsty, 14, and 11-year-old Richard.
Mr Suddess, who has worked for 3M, at Newton Aycliffe, for 21 years, has stepped down to assistant leader, handing over his role to Robert York.
District Commissioner Colin Clarke presented him with a long service certificate, and flowers to his wife.
Mr Suddess said: "I have enjoyed working with the boys. We have had lads from all different backgrounds and it has been great to see them grow. Scouting gives them a chance to take part in a wide range of activities and I would recommend it for any child."
