A MIDDLESBROUGH man has become a Mr Fixit in ensuring home comforts for servicemen serving in Kosovo.
Father-of-two RAF Corporal Kevin Kelly is responsible for maintaining the accommodation for soldiers and airmen working at barracks near Pristina - among 2,000 British personnel stationed in Kosovo.
"I make sure that everything is working, from the taps over the sinks to the air conditioning units in the aircraft hangars,'' he said.
"Keeping it all working is important, the troops rely on me to make them as comfortable as possible.''
According to his bosses, the 40-year-old has gone beyond the call of duty, taking the time to find TV sets, videos and even DVD players for the troops.
Cpl Kelly, who will be returning on home leave this month after a four-month tour of duty in Kosovo, said: "We are busy all the time and work seven days a week.
"The lads get a bit of time off at the end of their shift, so it's nice for them to be able to relax in front of the telly for a while.
"It helps them to feel a bit more at home."
Service personnel watch TV programmes beamed via the British Forces Broadcast Service and so the troops have been able to keep up to date with their favourite programmes.
Cpl Kelly said: "I am looking forward to getting home to my kids, Natasha and Katie. I have missed them while I've been out here.
