THE Freemasons in Darlington have presented a cheque for £3,500 to the Alzheimer's Society.
The money was presented at an open day at the Darlington Masonic Hall, as part of a national Freemasonry in the Community initiative.
Jack Hutchinson, past master of the Dunelm Lodge, said: "One of our members passed away and bequeathed a sum of money with the stipulation that it be put to good use locally. Lodge members, some of whom had family experience of coping with Alzheimer's disease, decided that the Alzheimer's Society should benefit.
