A CAR share scheme has been launched by Newcastle Airport to help both the environment and the finances of its 3,000 employees.
Graeme Mason, the airport's planning and environment manager, said: "The car share scheme provides car owners whose transport options are limited, with the opportunity to contact other members of staff in a similar situation. Together they can agree a car share arrangement to meet their travel needs.
"As well as the environmental benefits of reducing the number of cars on the roads, the scheme also offers member benefits and incentives such as preferential parking, reduced petrol costs and exclusive discounts on tyres, exhausts and batteries."
The scheme, sponsored by Newcastle City Council, is part of the Airport Company's strategy to meet Government transport and environmental requirements.
