A GIRL is in Middlesbrough General Hospital with a broken leg after being knocked down on a pedestrian crossing.
Amy Coverdale, 14, from Longford Street, Middlesbrough, was knocked down on Marton Road, Middlesbrough, near the junction with Belle Vue Road.
It is believed the car involved was an L-registered, red Volkswagen. The car stopped before turning round and driving off along Marton Road. Witnesses to the accident or anyone with information about the car or driver are asked to call the road policing unit on (01642) 301558.
COLLEGE mUSIC: Students from Guisborough's Prior Pursglove College will perform their own musical compositions in St Nicholas' Parish Church, on Monday, at 7.30pm. Tickets are available at the door. SEASIDE WALK: A two-hour walk and tram ride through Saltburn will take place on Wednesday, July 17, from 7pm. Tickets, costing £1.50 (75p for juniors) are available from Saltburn Tourist Information Centre and include a discount voucher for the Smugglers Heritage Centre.
CAR BOOT: A car boot sale in aid of Saltburn Folk Festival will take place on Sunday from 10am to 4pm in Somerfield car park, Milton Street, Saltburn. Pitches, costing £6 a day, will be available on the day or can be booked on (01287) 624046.
Special concert: A leavers' concert will be held at High Clarence Primary School, Port Clarence, on Friday, July 12. It will be attended by Stockton Mayor Councillor Jean O'Donnell.
PROMS NIGHT: A free Last Night of the Proms concert, featuring the Lingdale and Yarm Silver Band, will take place at Skelton Methodist Church, east Cleveland, on Friday, July 19, at 7.30pm.
FETE DATE: A fete will take place on Sunday at Skelton Social Skills Centre, Skelton Industrial Estate, Skelton, at 2pm. Entrance is 20p.
