EAST Durham residents are to be given the chance to check their health and improve their lifestyles.
A Healthy Living Awareness Day will be held on Wednesday, between 10am and 2pm, at Peterlee Leisure Centre.
The event has been organised by Peterlee Health Forum and will offer those attending information and advice on a variety of health issues, including healthy eating, giving up smoking, drugs awareness, support for carers, and holistic and alternative health therapies.
There will also be opportunities to have free health checks to test blood and sugar levels.
On the day, Peterlee Health Forum will be working in partnership with organisations such as Arthritis Care, British Red Cross, Carers Support and the Samaritans, and money raised at the session will go to help the groups.
District of Easington community development worker Judith Quinn said: "Improving health in the district is a major priority, and this event aims to provide plenty of help and advice on how to live a healthier life.
"It should also be a fun day, with prize raffles and free fruit for all."
Refreshments and a free creche will also be available. Anyone wanting further information is asked contact Ms Quinn on 0191-5270 501, extension 2424.
