A COUNCIL chief is set to drive off his chosen charity at a fundraising golf tournament today.
Chairman of the District of Easington, Councillor Jeff Gray will host the event at Hartlepool Golf Course to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Research.
The chairman's team made up of council staff will take on Peterlee police.
Coun Gray said: "This year's charity is getting off to a great start and this match should add £1,000 pounds to the fund.
"I would like to thank those taking part from the District of Easington and Peterlee police for helping this excellent cause.
"Special thanks also must go to Bradley Nissan for sponsoring the match to the tune of £500."
