- Round Eight -
Teesside Steelers claimed their second consecutive North East Division title on Saturday comfortably beating Durham Tigers, the only team with a mathematical chance of catching them.
The final score was 56-6, a battling Tigers team finally succumbing as injuries reduced them to ten men for much of the second half.
Sunderland City held on against a brave fight back to win a 34-30 thriller against Newcastle Knights, moving them out of the wooden spoon spot on points difference, ahead of their Tyneside rivals.
Results: Bridlington Bulls 0, Manchester Knights 8; Sunderland City 34, Newcastle Knights 30; Teesside Steelers 56, Durham Tigers 6.
Tomorrow's fixtures for Round Nine: Newcastle Knights v Durham Tigers; Sunderland City v Crewe Wolves; Teesside Steelers v Bridlington Bulls.
