FIRMS are helping open a new chapter in learning for little ones.
Businesses and local organisations are sponsoring the making of story sacks for nursery and reception children at Saltburn Infants School.
Nursery teacher Jen Leaver said: "They are absolutely marvellous. The aim is to develop early interactive skills. They foster reading and storytelling skills.''
The school has set its sights on building up to 80 story sacks and so far about 30 have been completed.
People in the community have helped make the props to go with the stories, including students at Upsall Hall, near Nunthorpe, who made wooden toys and knitted three little pigs' houses.
The project also received a £3,300 Millennium Award.
To thank everyone, the school held a garden party this week.
