HARROGATE'S Stray hosts a day of family entertainment this weekend to commemorate the Queen's Golden Jubilee.
The town's Lions Club usually arranges a carnival to coincide with Father's Day while the borough council stages an annual Party in the Park in the Valley Gardens.
However, both have pooled their resources to mark the Queen's 50-year reign - and the result is a programme of activities for the community between noon and 5pm on Sunday.
"It was the Queen who expressed the wish that any celebrations should involve the whole community," said council leader, Geoff Webber.
"As well as giving over 60 grants to local groups and organisations to host their own events over the jubilee weekend, we wanted to give everyone in the community the opportunity to come together in celebration."
The programme includes a pet show, an It's A Knockout tournament and quizzes; football and rugby competitions; a classic car display; a falconry display, including some of the owls from the Harry Potter film; a narrow gauge railway,; bouncy castle; inflatable maze and slide; a workshop in circus skills and displays by the Boys' Brigade and Sea Cadets from TS Cleopatra.
A fancy dress competition is also planned with prizes for the best characters from the Queen's reign.
