GREEN experts and farming specialists from the North-East were guest speakers at a conference to discuss world environmental issues.
The Soroptimists International Region of Northern England conference, held in Darlington, was on the theme of Our Environment, Their Inheritance, Whose Planet Is It Anyway?
Speakers included Gillian Van der Meer, Woman Farmer of the Year and vice-president of Women's Food and Farming Union, who spoke about the impact of the foot-and-mouth epidemic and the aftermath of BSE.
University of York researcher Cara Morgan gave an account of the successful reintroduction of otters to northern England.
Students from Branksome School, Darlington, put on a musical display and pupils at the town's Harrowgate Hill Junior School performed an environmental-themed play.
