Following recent auditions throughout the North-East, the Dionysis Theatre Company has cast young people aged eight to 25 in the show, featuring the songs Food, Glorious Food, Consider Yourself and As Long As He Needs Me.
Rehearsals begin on August 10, with performances from Wednesday, August 21, to Saturday, August 24, at Durham's Gala Theatre.
Among those taking part is Caroline Bateson, 12, a pupil at Durham Johnston Comprehensive School, who said: "I am playing the rose seller in the song, Who Will Buy.
"I have worked with different theatre clubs, such as Centre Stage, Durham Youth Music Theatre and others.
"I auditioned in Durham and got recalled. I had a brilliant time and made loads of new friends at the same time."
