THE tranquil surroundings of an idyllic country estate are to be livened up in style this month - as the Swinging Sixties come back to life.
The Music by Moonlight concert at Fountains Abbey, near Ripon, North Yorkshire, has traditionally celebrated the genius of Mozart, Beethoven and other classical composers.
But this year's event has become a "Carnaby Street to Woodstock" extravaganza, with a host of bands recreating the sights and sounds of the Sixties' music era.
Tribute bands will pay homage to the likes of The Beatles, The Kinks and Pink Floyd.
A huge firework display will round off the concert, which takes place on Friday, at 7.30pm.
Tickets cost £17.50 and can be booked on (01909) 511061.
