PUPILS at a Newton Aycliffe school have excelled in three recent mathematics-based challenges.
Greenfield School Community and Arts College took part in the UK junior maths challenge, a national competition open to the top 35 per cent of students in the subject.
The school had more than 20 pupils eligible to take part, with Jemma Pollock named best in school.
Greenfield also had success in a Mathematics Master challenge, held at Woodham Community Technology College.
This year, the team of Hannah Robinson, Antony Stoker, Rachel Walker and Jonathan Matthews produced an outstanding poster on triangles for round one. They also took part in head-to-head and team events and finished second in a mental agility round.
Head of maths, Sandra Greaves, supported a group of pupils in their entry to the Durham County Mathematics challenge. The team of Christopher Tremewan, Chris Martin, Becky Hurst and Sarah Collier took part in five rounds of the competition, in County Hall, Durham City.
They won a logic round and came fourth overall.
