TRIBUTE bands are to headline this year's Orange Darlington Festival.
The event, to be held over August Bank Holiday weekend, will feature music, dance, street theatre and a talent competition.
It will open on Saturday, August 24, at 7pm, in the Market Square, with live music from two bands playing tributes to U2 and Madonna.
Sunday will feature street theatre, arts and crafts and a talent competition compered by Alpha radio.
The finals of the talent show will be held on Monday and there will be more street theatre.
In the evening, a grand finale will feature West-Lives, a Westlife tribute band and Robbie Williams impersonator Paul Reason.
A firework display will also take place.
As with last year's festival, the outdoor market will be held on High Row.
Discussions between the council and emergency services are being held to devise a traffic management plan to allow safe access to both the event and the market.
Darlington Borough Council is hoping to attract people from outside the area to the event as well as residents.
Sunday evening's programme is yet to be finalised.
