AN MP is urging anyone with information about two former psychiatrists to present it to an independent inquiry.
Patients have made a series of allegations against William Kerr and Michael Haslam, who both worked in North Yorkshire.
The inquiry, to be headed by Nigel Pleming QC, will focus on how the NHS responded to complaints made about both retired consultants.
Vale of York MP Anne McIntosh said: "The inquiry now wants to hear from patients, NHS staff or anyone else who wishes to give information. I would urge anyone with any information to approach the inquiry."
A "trial of the facts" in December 2000 concluded that Dr Kerr, a psychiatrist practising from the 1960s to the 1980s, had indecently assaulted a highly vulnerable psychiatric patient. He was placed on the sex offenders' register.
In April 2001, Dr Kerr was suspended from the medical register for 18 months by the General Medical Council.
The inquiry will also look at allegations made against Mr Haslam, who voluntarily erased his name from the medical register in 1999.
