A DARLINGTON primary school has just finished its Queen's Golden Jubilee celebrations with a week of fun and learning about the monarchy.
The 450 pupils and staff at North Road Primary School spent a day in fancy dress on Monday.
Among the characters featured were Cruella De Vil, from 101 Dalmatians, the Incredible Hulk and the Flintstones.
On Tuesday, the school enjoyed a sports morning and then pupils took part in jubilee activities, including stamp and crown-making.
The school hosted a verandah party yesterday, with pupils dressing in red, white and blue.
Headteacher Richard Wilde said: "We have been looking forward to this week for a long time. We wanted to make a good job of it, and as the jubilee weekend took place during half-term we decided to move our celebrations to the end of term to make the most of them. This week isn't just about fun, however. We're teaching our pupils about our monarchy."
