PLANNING permission has been granted for a pair of semi-detached cottages in Bishopton, despite opposition to the scheme.
The cottages, to be built on land adjacent to 3 The Green, will be only five metres away from neighbouring property.
Darlington Borough Council's planning committee yesterday heard objections raised by residents at numbers 1, 3, 5 and 7 The Green.
They were concerned about the height of the cottages and their design, which they said would be out of keeping with the area.
Concerns about loss of light to an adjacent property and disputes over the ownership of land where an extended garage close to the cottages has been earmarked for demolition, were also heard.
Councillor Gordon Plummer reminded members that civil disputes did not come under council consideration, and the scheme was approved unanimously.
