TELEVISION viewers will today be let into the secrets of how a North-East community is transforming its surroundings with a touch of greenery.
Gardeners World cameras visited Heaton, in Newcastle, in June to record its third Greening Heaton day, organised by community volunteers.
The efforts of gardeners were also captured on film.
The programme followed Cityworks staff as they transformed the yard of the Heaton Centre, Trewhitt Road, planting shrubs and flowers and turning it into a colourful park for the weekend.
Locals were also recorded as they were offered help and advice on planting up window boxes, pots and other containers to brighten up areas.
You can see the programme on BBC2 at 8pm tonight.
