Durham Ranking Tournament
In the sixth Ranking Tournament of the year, held in Durham Snooker Club, Chris Bowran came through to take the £40 winners prize after beating Paul Brockway in the final, where Paul collected £20.
The beaten semi-finalists, Dave Hodgson and Darren Grainger collected £10 each.

Bishop Auckland and District League
Crook Olde Horse Shoe, the leaders, slipped to their third defeat of the season when the visiting Spennymoor Ashtree came through to take the decider. The Shoe had two singles points from Stephen Liddle and one each from Dave Walker and Gavin Witton. The visitors had two points from Paul Biddle and Ronnie McAloon with Alan Jones and Stephen Jones adding one each.
The Shoe closed the gap when Steve Hunter and Stephen Liddle too the doubles. Gavin Witton squared the match by winning the first captain's game bu Paul Biddle took his revenge in the decider.
Toft Hill Three Tuns took a prestigious scalp when they beat the visiting Bishop Auckland Football Club by the odd point. The Tuns had two singles points from Andrew Wilson and Richie Hughes, whilst Barry Thexton and Peter Cardigan added one each. In reply the footballers had two points from Lee Taylor and one each from Russell Place and Karl Neilson.
The Footballers closed the gap when Russell Place and Lee Diaz took the doubles but the Tuns went to victory when Vince Hunt won the first captain's game against Lee Taylor. The visiting captain took his revenge in the second captain's frame to keep the score at the closest possible.
Crook Olde Horse Shoe lead the table by seven points with Crook Coach and Horses nine points ahead of the third placed Bishop Auckland Snooker Club B.

Crook League
Crook Olde Horse Shoe B came with a late recovery to force a draw against the visiting Crook Spitfire Club. The home side had singles wins from Dave Walker, Lee Scott and Wayne Smith to add to the doubles of Peter Clement with Phil Greenup and Dave Walker with Carl Maddison. The Spitfire Club went into the lead when they took seven singles points with Mark Callaghan and Gordon Walker scoring two and one each from Ronnie Rinaldi, Eddie Phillipson and John Palmer. This pushed the visitors 7-5 ahead but the Shoe took the last two when Carl Maddison beat Harry Tait and Kevin Emmerson beat Eddie Phillipson.
Crook Royal Sun B are bottom of the Second Division but put the their best showing of the season when they just failed by two points to beat the visiting league leaders, Willington Market. The Sun had two points from David Haygarth and Paul Norman and one from Nicola Thexton to add to the doubles of David Haygarth and Kathleen Crook. The Market had two points from Paul Lauder and Syd Trow with Micky Toward, and John Blackett scoring one each to add to the doubles of Staurt Wayman with Stuart Shillan. The Market edged to victory when Staurt Wayman beat Lisa Thexton in the final singles.
Crook Olde Horse Shoe A lead Division One by nine points with Crook Travellers Rest B in second place, eleven points ahead of Crook Coach and Horses. Willington Market lead the Second Division by eight points from Crook Jelly's Bar A, who are ten points in front of the Queen's Head A and the White Swan.
* The next league meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 16 in Croft Social Club at 7.30pm, when all teams must be represented.

Spennymoor League
Ithe final week of the league programme, Spennymoor Black Horse ensured the runners-up spot behind Spennymoor Quinns Inn when they only dropped two points at Spennymoor Victoria.
The home side's only singles point came from J. Ibbotson, whilst the Horse had wins from J. Oliver, R. Turner, G. Porter and D. Miller. The Victoria took the first doubles through A. Cairns and J. Ibbotson with the Black Horse taking the second through G. Porter and D. Miller. The visitors completed a good victory when J. McIver beat A. Shaw in the captain's game.

Bishop Auckland
Area League
The final round of scheduled matches saw more of the trophies decided. After securing the league title last week Bishop Auckland Kings Head went on to clinch the Overall points trophy too with Bishop Auckland Derby taking the runners-up spot in both cases. The Derby doubles pair of Steven Lowther and Kevin Singleton and Spennymoor Wheatsheaf doubles pair, Geoff Brown and Steve Horner have to play-off for runners-up in the first doubles. Spennymoor Penny Gill ensured they took the second doubles title with a win at Spennymoor Hillingdon. Shaun Reynolds of Bishop Auckland Grand won the captains game at Spennymoor Voltigeur to make sure that he would at least be in a play off for the Captains title with Brian Cable of Bishop Auckland Aclet. Having already played all of his matches the Aclet's Derek Cooper was confirmed as the League Player of the Year, having won 17 out of his 22 games this season.
Spennymoor Voltigeur, who started this season well, played their final match of the season with no chance of honours, but their visitors, Bishop Auckland Grand, need points from their final games to lift themselves from the bottom of the table and avoid the wooden spoon. A bright start from the Grand, with the first two games being won by John Rickaby and Lee Ellison, was followed with wins from the home side's David Graham and Darren Briggs. David King then won the final singles game for the Grand to leave the score after this singles 3-2 in favour of the visitors. The home side took both doubles games, the first a win by Steve Santi and Jeff Wilkinson and the second a win for Darren Briggs and David Graham. Sean Reynolds then won the captains game for the Grand to give his side a draw and himself the chance to win the captains trophy.
* All play-offs will be played tomorrow on the Finals Day at Bishop Auckland Grand, where all players must be present by 12.30.
Tow Law League
Ithe top of the table clash the former leaders, Tow Law Rose and Crown only took two points from the visiting Tow Law North Point, who now move up with Tow Law Dan's Castle A to share the top spot. The Rose and Crown only had one singles win from Anthony Ward and a doubles when Ward joined Lee Mowbray. The Point's winners were Gary Watson, Dave Morton, Alan Henderson, Stan Simmons, Colin Armstrong and Gary Turnbull.
Esh Football Club were able to move up to share the third place in the table with the Rose and Crown, four points behind the joint leaders after they took all three doubles in their home match against Tow Law Football Club. The singles were shared with Esh having wins from John McCormick, John Robinson and Dave Brown, whilst the Lawyers winners were Les Hind, Charlie Donaghy and Jim Day.
