PUPILS, teachers, dinner ladies and a policeman joined in a dramatic production of Oliver! at West Redcar School.
The show was the first to be directed by the school's English teacher Janet Walker.
"The school has a tradition of putting on shows," she said. "This one has been great fun. Everyone's got involved, either on stage or behind the scenes - including members of the public."
Oliver was played by Christian Enfield, Fagin by John McGrath, Dodger by Steven Green and Nancy by Jeff Peat. PC Chris Greenwood had another leading role - as Mr Bumble.
"The orchestra was good too," added Mrs Walker. "Music head Brian Harvey was the musical director. Members of the audience were seated around tables rather than in rows, which made for a great atmosphere.
"We are applying for special status as an expressive arts college, and this sort of work should assist us," she ended.
