A tournament for youngsters aged between six and 13 with over 500 children from 70 teams taking part was held at the weekend.
Organised by Darlington Spraire Lads and Lasses, teams from as far a field as Tyneside, Co. Durham, Teesside and North Yorkshire took part in the six-a-side festival of football at the Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College playing fields, Abbey Road, Darlington.
There was plenty of exciting football produced by the youngsters in a friendly atmosphere, assisted no doubt by the bright sunshine.
Spraire Lads & Lasses Secretary, Dave Scott, expresses his thanks to the referees, the competition sponsors, the hundreds of spectators and the many helpers who turned out over the weekend, as well as the boys and girls that took part.
The tournament was considered a great success and Spraire Lads & Lasses will be looking to making the tournament an annual event.
