HOPEFUL Henmans and aspiring Agassis in North Yorkshire have been given a helping hand to reach the top in tennis.
The Harrogate and District Community Tennis Partnership (CTP) is celebrating a £4,000 grant from the National Lottery's Awards for All scheme by relaunching its coaching facilities and a new summer programme.
Harlow Tennis Club and Rossett High School will work together with the Lawn Tennis Association and Harrogate Borough Council to promote First Servings - an initiative aimed at introducing youngsters to the game.
Under the guidance of head coach Richard Widnall, the CTP has been visiting schools throughout the area.
Councillor Pat Marsh, the council's leisure spokewoman, said: "The Awards for All grant will be used to increase the participation and development of tennis across the district.
"The partnership has already built on the success of the school visits with the formation of an after-school club at Rossett High School on Monday afternoons, for children aged seven to 12."
