BUSES are being used as surgeries for travellers to air their views on local services.
Durham County Council and the National Federation of Bus Users (NFBU) have organised a series of surgeries where passengers can talk to their bus operators' representatives on a stationary bus.
Yesterday, a surgery bus which was provided by Go North East, visited Framwellgate Bridge, in Durham City, the University Hospital of North Durham, in Langley Park, and Consett Bus Station.
Today, a bus provided by Arriva will visit Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre at 10am, Bishop Auckland General Hospital at noon, and Bishop Auckland Bus Station at 1.30pm.
Chris Graham, Durham County Council's rural transport officer, said: "This is the first surgery of its type to go into the community, and by taking it to a variety of places we hope to cover as many issues as possible."
Checks will be made with passengers who leave their contact details to ensure they are satisfied with responses to the points they raise.
