THREE young athletes from Northallerton are heading to Nottingham this weekend, to compete in the English Schools National Championships.
The trio from Northallerton College - 400m runner Tyrone Crow, discus thrower Gareth Waton and long jumper Ben Darville - qualified after excellent performers in the recent county championships in York.
Tyrone, 15, was ranked tenth in the country in the 400m last year. This year he faces a tough challenge, giving away a year by competing in the under-17 age bracket.
Ben and Gareth, both 14, have arrived at the college after transferring from Allertonshire School four weeks early. They will compete in the under-15 category.
Ben is the county champion in the long jump, having achieved a distance of 5.6m. Gareth came second in York by throwing the discuss 32.22m.
