FUN days have been organised for children and parents in Easington as part of a programme to combat disaffection and crime.
The Easington On Track Partnership aims to create safer communities by working with children aged from four to 12, and their parents, to prevent youth crime and anti-social behaviour.
It also works towards making sure that all children in Easington develop basic levels of literacy, numeracy and social skills.
The partnership, funded by the Government's Children's Fund, has organised fun days to let youngsters try out activities such as basketball, mask making, and hair braiding.
There will be an event today at Eden Hall Infant and Junior School in Peterlee, between 9.30am and 1.30pm, and on Thursday September 26 at Dene House Primary School in Peterlee from 2.30pm to 6pm.
There will also be productions from On Track's drama, arts and cookery clubs and acrobatic performances, parachute games and fitness sessions.
