A SMALL group of Year 9 pupils from Hurworth School, near Darlington, has been following the work of the Carnegie Literary Awards.
The group, in conjunction with Darlington Library, has been reading books on the shortlist, writing reviews and posting them on the Carnegie website.
The group has made its choice of the top books, selecting Journey to the River Sea by Eva Ibbotson and the winner, Virginia Wolff's True Believer as runner-up and The Amazing Maurice by Terry Pratchett and Love That Dog by Sharon Creech in joint third.
The winner of the Carnegie Prize will be announced on Friday. Last year the Hurworth group chose the same winner as the awards panel.
