Teenage victims of two weekend road accidents remain in hospital attempting to recover from serious injuries.
A 16-year-old boy knocked down in Potto Street, Shotton Colliery, east Durham, was still poorly, but stable, in Middlesbrough General Hospital, where he was taken after Friday evening's accident suffering serious head injuries.
The 32-year-old driver of the car involved in the accident, who like the victim is from Shotton, was released from the University Hospital of Hartlepool following treatment for whiplash and shock.
Meanwhile, a 15-year-old pedal cyclist, who was involved in a collision with a motor cycle, on Howden Bank, between Lanchester and Maiden Law, in north-west Durham, on Saturday evening, remained in a poorly, but not life threatening condition, in Durham's University Hospital of North Durham.
He is undergoing treatment for serious head and leg injuries, while the 43-year-old motor cycle rider, from Tantobie, near Stanley, suffered a broken collar bone and his 36-year-old pillion passenger suffered minor injuries.
Witnesses to either accident is asked to contact Durham Police's accident investigation unit, on 0191-386 4929.
