PUPILS have buried a time capsule on the site of their new school to give future generations a glimpse of life at the start of the millennium.
The new school, which will be built on the site of High Usworth Infants in Washington, is due to open its doors in September - replacing High Usworth Infants and Juniors and Donwell Primary.
Children from the three schools were asked to write down their suggestions for what the capsule should contain.
It includes a £5 coin, a model of the new Nissan Primera, a pencil case, a CD, a Playstation book and a Harry Potter novel.
The £3.1m scheme is one of several that building contractor Bowey has handled fo Sunderland City Council.
The school got £750,000 in funding from the National Lottery's Spaces for Sports and Arts grants.
The funding was awarded because of a lack of sports and arts facilities in north Washington.
