AN education chief has become a governor of the school he was expelled from as a child.
Ernest Gibson, 38, also has a place on a committee which oversees education policy in South Tyneside borough.
He has been appointed a governor of St Wilfrid's RC Comprehensive School, in South Shields, from which he was expelled at the age of 15.
"I used to act the goat at school and do foolish things, but nothing compared to what kids do these days," he said.
"I was someone who was often made to stand outside lessons in the school corridor.
"I've done well for myself and getting expelled may have led me on to the right path. I got it out of my system then, instead of later in life."
