CHILDREN in Redcar are invited to take part in a series of free activities to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the town's lifeboat station.
The events, at Kirkleatham Hall Museum, start on Thursday, July 25, with sea monster mask-making sessions at 10am, 11am, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm. Throughout the summer there will be fish kite, treasure chest and lifeboat model making sessions. For more information about the activities available, call Liz Bates on (01642) 479500.
CHILD CARE: Morning and afternoon playgroup sessions are available at the newly revamped Archibald Children's Day Centre, at Archibald Primary school, Ayresome Green Lane, Middlesbrough. The sessions offer fun and games for youngsters aged three to eight throughout the summer holidays. From September, after-school care will be available for three to 11-year-olds. DATE CHANGE: A nostalgia show which was due to take place today at the Cheshire Home, in Marske, will be held next Tuesday instead. The show, from 2pm to 4pm, features 1950s and 1960's music. Entrance is £1, which includes tea and biscuits.
CANCELLED SURGERIES: Middlesbrough councillor Kath Bevington has cancelled two surgeries due to take place on Thursday and next Thursday, at North Ormesby Youth and Community Centre. Her next surgery will be at the same venue on Thursday, August 1, between 5pm and 6pm.
URBAN CONFERENCE: More than 200 delegates are expected to attend a conference this week on urban regeneration and renewal at the University of Teesside, Middlesbrough. The conference, exploring poverty, crime and unemployment, runs from today until Thursday.
TEENAGE DISCO: A junior disco is being held at Fairfield Sports and Social Club, Stockton, next Wednesday at 7pm. The event is being held in partnership with Cleveland Police and the club. It is aimed at 12 to 17-year-olds who will be charged £1 entry fee, which will go towards providing a professional DJ. Soft drinks will be on sale.
RACEHORSE TRAINING: A planning application has been lodged with Hartlepool Borough Council to build an all-weather gallop at Low Burntoft Farm, Wolviston, to exercise racehorses.
