OFSTED inspectors have praised the 65 pupils at St Hilda's Roman Catholic School at Whitby.
In their report, the inspectors complimented the youngsters on their "excellent personal development and relationships with one another and adults".
In addition, the inspectors said: "All of the teaching is satisfactory or better and the teaching of pupils in years five and six is often outstanding."
Headteacher Pam Crabtree was also praised for creating what the inspectors described as a united staff with good teamwork. "It is a school community that is eager to learn and is well behaved."
Ms Crabtree said: "We are delighted with the report. It is all down to the dedication of the staff, the support of our governors and parents, and the commitment of the children, who have done us proud."
