The Darlington Young Sportswinner Award for July went to David Meads, 12, from Gainford, at the Dolphin Centre.
David is a member of the Darlington Table Tennis Club and a student at Teesdale School, Barnard Castle. As well as the main award, which is sponsored by communications company Orange, in association with Darlington Borough Council and the Master Skills Sporting Academy, three other presentations were made.
The team award went to Darlington Junior Table Tennis Club, and the coaching award was presented to Nicola Stephenson, of Darlington Gymnastics Club.
The service to sport award was presented to Brian Everett, vice-president of Darlington Gymnastics Club.
The next awards, which will be presented in September, will focus on swimming, cricket, cycling, volleyball and watersports.
