A STUDENT is about to appear in a television series about adult learning.
David Metcalfe, a second year physiotherapy student at Northumbria University in Newcastle was filmed at University Hospital of North Durham in Durham City, where he is on placement, and at university, for the Tyne Tees television series.
He attracted the programme makers' attention after winning an award for adult learning at Derwentside College.
Mr Metcalfe has always wanted to be a physiotherapist and went to college after being made redundant from the cigarette factory where he worked for several years.
He said: "It has all been good fun.
"I was nervous about coming to the hospital, but everyone has been really nice.
"It is a very good new hospital and I would love to work there once I finish college."
