YOUNGSTERS at a Stockton secondary school have gone the whole nine yards for their Buddhist garden.
Simon Cross, presenter of ITV's Whole Nine Yards programme, visited Grangefield School recently to give advice on setting up a Buddhist garden in the school grounds.
Claire Cuthbert, RE teacher at the school, runs a lunchtime club working on the theme of Buddhism.
As her classroom is filled with displays she decided to move outdoors and create a Buddhist garden.
The garden will be a quiet space for reflection as well as providing an outdoor classroom in the summer.
Members of the year seven and eight clubs have made prayer tags, wind chimes and seating for the garden.
Miss Cuthbert said: "It will take time for the plants to grow and the garden to look more established, but I am grateful to everyone who has helped so far.
"I hope the garden will help change pupils perceptions of RE from a subject previously considered dull and boring to one which stimulates their imagination and the desire to learn."
