STAFF from a Stockton bank have raised £1,000 for a regional children's cancer charity.
The group from Barclays Bank were among 10,000 runners to take part in the recent North of England Children's Cancer Research Run.
A cheque was presented to charity representative Maurice Jones by the group's organiser, Alison Croymans.
Mr Jones said: "This was the first time the girls ran in the event. It was especially pleasing for the charity, because last year's foot-and-mouth crisis forced us to change venues and because of the uncertainty, we lost some support.
"This year, we were delighted with the increased support. We hope to have raised £150,000 to fund research into the causes and treatment of childhood cancers here in the North-East.
"This work has started to make a difference and the outlook for many children diagnosed with cancer is much better than it was just a few years ago.
"That is due in no small part to the support of people in the North-East."
