A MOTHER and daughter kept it in the family as the pair graduated from university.
Yvonne and Angela Canning from Sunderland celebrated together after passing with flying colours from the city's university.
While Angela was studying for her BA (Hons) in psychology, her mother, Yvonne, completed a doctorate. Yvonne graduated in computational linguistics at the university's school of Computing and Technology.
Research for her doctorate involved creating software, in conjunction with Sussex University, which simplifies newspaper texts for people who have suffered brain damage. The software has attracted the attention of one local health authority as well as international news agency Reuters.
The pair plan to take a few weeks off before Angela starts looking for jobs in forensic psychology and Yvonne continues with the work she did in her doctorate.
