Darlington and District League
Heighington remain top of the table even though they were defeated by Witton-le-Wear, who bowled out the championship contender for 105 which included 38 not out by Jackson.
Nelson returned excellent figures of six for 33 and Penfold four for 60 for Witton-le-Wear who batting first realised 129 for nine. Opening batsman Chrisp top scored with 47 and in the Heighington attack Boocock claimed four wickets for 50 runs and Lineton three for 33. Waite gave support as his two wickets were taken for 33 runs.
Rockliffe Park are second following a comfortable victory at home to Eryholme. Batting first the Park reached 194 for the loss of eight wickets after being given an excellent start by openers Fidell (35) and Wheeler (50). Krishnan contributed 23 and towards the end Garbutt scored a good 33.
In reply Eryholme struggled for runs, but 22 by Craggs batting at No 10 and 50 not out from last man Lynn took the total into three figures. Cockerton had just two wickets to spare overtaking the formidable Raby Castle total of 176 for seven. After their first three batsmen contributed two runs between them, Cockerton were saved by Farrow who went in at number four and was still there at the end undefeated on 85.
When they made first use of the wicket Raby Castle ended on 176 for seven with opening batsman Pool contributing 74. Cavanagh weighed in with 43 and for Cockerton no bowler did better than Leafe who picked up five of the seven wickets to go down for 48 runs.
Barton overtook the Spennymoor total of 159 for nine with two wickets in hand, but it took a late unbeaten 39 from Kearney to see his side to victory. McAfee opened the Barton reply scoring 29 before being run out and Miller added 27 but it was Kearney who was the eventual match winner as Groves took three for 71 and Rowell three for 77 in the visiting attack.
Batting first Spennymoor conceded two early wickets before Taylor revived his side's fortunes scoring 40 batting at number three. McGough finished undefeated on 56 and for Barton Kearney claimed five wickets for 25 runs.
Barningham hosted Ingleton and won by 32 runs. Steve French hit six boundaries in 41 and May added 44 to the Barningham total of 177 for seven with Keith Gammack returning three for 49 in 14 overs for Ingleton.
In response Ingleton were given a good send off by Stuart Laundy who recorded one six and seven boundaries in 46 before having to retire. Elgey, who opened the innings with Laundy, scored 21 as Ingleton won losing eight wickets, five of them to Scott Walker for 34 runs in 11 overs and three to Peter May at a cost of 48 runs in 12 overs.
Haughton are still out in front of Division B and they had 122 runs in hand of Catterick Village. Wilkinson (67) and Sargeant (44no) led Haughton to an impressive 186 for seven. Gailey with four wickets for 58 runs was the top wicket taker for the home team.
Replying Catterick Village were all out for 64 of which Swainston contributed 36. Keen took five for 28 and Wilkinson three for 15 for Haughton.
Cliffe are second and they saw off the challenge from Middleton Tyas by eight wickets. Chris Bowes was in magnificent form with the ball for Cliffe and in 9.4 overs he returned the magnificent figures of eight for 28. When Middleton Tyas batted they finished on 136 all out from 37.4 overs and most of the runs came form Nigel Wilkinson who with a couple of sixes and six boundaries in 45 and Ben Weaver who struck one six and five fours contributing 40.
When Cliffe went into bat they were indebted to openers Colin Knight and Richard Rutherford. The former recorded ten fours carrying his bat for 52 and Rutherford had 12 boundaries in 61 as the side set up their team's match winning reply.
Lands visited Dales and it was the home side who came out on top by six wickets. Faced with a target of 143 Dales had Simpson (36no) and Lowson (27no) as the pair put together a productive unbroken partnership for the fifth wicket.
When Lands made first use of the wicket they were given a good send off by opener Elstob (48) and his colleague Little (22) and for Dales Hutchinson claimed five wickets for 39 runs and Simpson three for 15.
Despite being required to score 74 runs Trimdon CCA went down by one run visiting Middleton-in-Teesdale. Trimdon were all out for 72 as N Watson took four for 21 and D Watson three for 28.
Batting first Middleton also found runs difficult against the attack of Gorton who returned six for 39 and Coughtrey with three for 23.
Even though Brompton-on-Swale totalled 156 for seven they lost by five wickets at East Cowton. Woodcock led the way for the home side scoring 49 before Rawe finished undefeated on 33. McGough and Frankland both took a couple of wickets for the visitors.
Brompton ended on 156 for seven and most of their runs came from opening batsman Jobling with 36 and McGough (50) while for East Cowton Rawe had excellent figures of five for 57.
Heighington were dismissed for 74 when they visited King James for whom Brack captured five wickets for 28 runs and Oughton four for 40.
King James posted 124 for five with Hale contributing 30 and Williams 33 before Smith finished unbeaten on 21. Jameson took four of the five wickets to go down for 45 runs.
In Division C Lands ended with 144 for nine against Trimdon Colliery and Deaf Hill who won by eight wickets. Cummings top performed scoring 51 for Lands and in the Trimdon Colliery and Deaf Hill attack Craggs had four for 74 and Strong three for 64.
Tinkler with an unbeaten 61 and Craggs carried his bat for 52 led Trimdon to victory.
Cockerton enjoyed a ten wickets win over Raby Castle who they restricted to 55 when Carroll took five wickets for 17 runs. Fenton with an unbeaten 30 shone with the bat for Cockerton.
Lewis with a top scoring 65 enabled Aldbrough St John to win by three wickets against Haughton whose 182 for seven included 95 by Dobbinson. Wilson with three for 55 was the most productive bowler in the Aldbrough attack.
Barningham managed 52 all out when Walker took four for 13 and Clarkson three for 19. Spennithorne and Harmby won losing three wickets and Barton did even better against Trimdon CCA winning with eight wickets to spare after dismissing their opponents for 52 when Miller collected four wickets for 38 runs.
The Readers Durham County League U18s
The weather played havoc with the programme, but two games went ahead. Evenwood defeated Newton Aycliffe when Billy Teesdale scored 38 and Chris Peareth carried his bat for 70, the pair enabling Evenwood to total 141 for the loss of one wicket. Responding Newton Aycliffe were restricted to 107 for eight which included 36 not out by Little and 29 by Reynolds. Mark Little was in good form with the ball for Evenwood taking two for 23 runs.
Tudhoe had 44 runs in hand of Ushaw Moor who they dismissed for 60 when Collingwood captured five wickets for nine runs and Curry took a couple of wickets at a cost of nine runs. Batting first Tudhoe finished on 104 for six as Tim Smalley top scored with 34. Darren Cull picked up a couple of wickets for 28 runs and Scott Nattress had two for 30 in the Ushaw Moor attack.
Justsport U15 Trophy
Lanchester easily progressed when they hosted Washington and after scoring 142 for two they reduced their opponents to 52 for nine. Kevin Dixon struck one six and two boundaries carrying his bat for 51 and Stuart McPhail contributed 41 with a couple of sixes and five fours. Greg Halliday was also in good form with the bat for Lanchester and found the boundary line on three occasions contributing 34. When they replied Washington found run making difficult and struggled to just past the 50 mark before the overs expired.
Fosters Northumberland and Tyneside Junior League Cup final
Burnopfield lifted the trophy with an emphatic ten wickets win at Annfield Plain. Batting first Plain made a useful 112 for five from their 20 overs with Chris Robinson top scoring with 30 not out which included a couple of boundaries.
When they responded there was no holding the Burnopfield openers Graham Carr, a former Annfield Plain junior and Ryan McVittie.
Carr, who recently transferred to Burnopfield, had three boundaries in an unbeaten 43 while McVittie struck one six and four fours when he carried his bat for 51.
Willis Elliott Cup
Blaydon reached the next round with a nine wickets victory over Greenside who they restricted to 67 for eight which included 24 by Fudge. Man of the match was Blaydon's Gary Stewart who clean bowled five batsmen to end with the outstanding figures of five for nine. Anthony Baker took one for 23 and David Bailey 1/7.
In reply Blaydon easily achieved the target losing one wicket as Bailey struck six boundaries in an unbeaten 32.
