Northallerton Junior Triumph in the Sam Webster Cricket Final Northallerton Junior cricketers pulled off a remarkable 27-run win against their more experience rivals, Bedale Junior CC in the final of the Samuel Webster Knockout Cup held at Northallerton's Farmdale Avenue Ground on Monday evening (July 15).
In a close fought contest, Northallerton posted a score of 129 for six wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Bedale in reply could muster only 102 for seven.
Although there were a number of individual performances of merit with bat and ball by both sides, Northallerton achieved their surprising victory over their more illustrious opponents because of a display of excellent fielding, sometimes quite brilliant, and it was entirely due to this all-round performance from a team only reformed two years ago, that victory was achieved.
The cup and individual trophies were presented to the players by Mr Alan Bradley, Chairman of the Wath Junior Cricket League.
Bedale, winners of the Wath Junior League this season were also presented with their trophy by Mr Bradley.
