A 75-YEAR-OLD woman was left badly shaken after two men forced their way into her home and stole money from her purse.
A police spokesman said the men struck in Valley View, Leadgate, County Durham, from 3pm to 5pm on July 5, but the crime was not reported until ten days later.
The suspects called at the woman's house and asked if she wanted to buy clothing. When she said she did not and began to shut the door, one of the men put a foot in the door and both forced their way into her living room.
One of the men, who had a briefcase containing clothes, asked her to have a look. She again replied she not want anything. He then spotted her purse, looked through it, and took a £20 note and some coins from it.
The men left a white embroidered diamante T-shirt, bearing the label New Model, and a pink Fifth Avenue cardigan with her, saying they were worth a lot more and would return.
Sergeant Tony Avery said: "These men used bully tactics to gain entry to the victim's house, and she was badly shaken by the incident. They also frightened her further by claiming they would return later for more money."
The man with the briefcase was described as 50, black, and stocky, with a round face. He wore a dark, shabby suit, dark shirt and trilby hat. The other man was about 60, black, 6ft, with a round face. He also wore a trilby.
