A CRASH victim was taken to hospital by helicopter yesterday after a two-car collision on the A688 Bishop Auckland to Staindrop road, at Keverstone Bank, near Raby Castle, at 3pm.
Two other people freed before fire crews from Bishop Auckland arrived at the scene were also taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital by ambulance suffering from shock.
A police spokesman said the person airlifted to hospital was not seriously hurt, as was first believed.
SHOCK THEFT: An electric cattle fence was stolen from a farmyard off Stockton Road, Sedgefield, between 8pm on Tuesday and 8am on Wednesday. The items taken included a Wolsey Energiser, several metal support sticks and thin metal tape.
BIKE STOLEN: A child's Purple Haze BMX bike with a silver frame and purple handlebars and stunt pegs, worth £250, was stolen from a garage in The Meadows, Sedgefield, between 9am on Tuesday and 5.30am on Wednesday.
FUN DAY: A jubilee fun day is being hosted by Chilton West Residents' Association in Chilton Working Men's Club tomorrow, from 11am to 4.30pm.
CLUBS SNATCHED: A set of Titleist 962 golf clubs, worth £650, a Big Bertha club, worth £300, a £130 Mizuno club, a £100 Karcher pressure washer, waterproof trousers and a Black & Decker garden vacuum, worth £50, were stolen from a garage in Beacon Avenue, Sedgefield, between 7pm on Tuesday and 7.30am on Wednesday.
SECRET GARDENS: Ten gardens in Wolsingham, Weardale, will be open to the public tomorrow and Sunday, from 2pm to 5pm, to raise money for St Mary's and St Stephen's Church. Tickets are available at the rectory or on (01388) 527340.
CENTENARY GAME: A team of Australian cricket professionals drawn from North-East clubs will take on a Durham Select XI at the Low Willington ground on Sunday, to mark the club's centenary. The 40-over match starts at 2pm.
CHAIR TAKEN: A wrought iron garden chair, worth £140, was stolen from the garden of a house in Thurlow Grange, Sedgefield, between 8pm on Tuesday and 9am on Wednesday.
SHED BURGLED: A generator with a Honda engine, worth £150, and a Makita drill and angle grinder, both worth £20, were stolen from a shed at the allotments in Ferryhill early on Wednesday.
SPECIAL MEETING: A special meeting of Darlington Borough Council's social affairs and health scrutiny committee will be held next Thursday, in the town hall, at 9.30am, to scrutinise the authority's draft domestic violence policy.
FLOWER CLUB: The next meeting of Teesdale Flower Club will be on Wednesday, at 7.30pm, at Cotherstone Village Hall. Malcolm Hockham will give a talk about Eggleston Hall Gardens.
