Harrogate Union First Division Championships

A fine day with perfect conditions and an immaculate course, this major union competition was won by Harrogate Golf Clubs A team led by the club captain Neil Fegan with a score of 288.

Bedale A team of Kevin Ward 68, John Webster 78, Andrew Gatenby 75 and Julian Beer 83. making a total of 304 and giving them fourth position. Kevin Ward's magnificent 68 broke the course record although later in the day this was equalled by Harrogate's Joe Buckley Bedale's B team of Simon Griffiths 82, Roger Parry 77, Neil Brown 80 and Ian Smith 75 giving them a total of 314 and leaving them well down the field

Ladies July Medal

With a gross 86 Shirley Somasundram returned the best score of the day and when her handicap was taken into consideration she easily won the Silver Division..

Results: Silver Division: 72 Shirley Stimasundram (20). 77 Shirley Bibby (20). Bronze 1- 74 Dorothy Bill (22) 75 Pauline Morris (24) and Carol Shaw (27) card countback. Bronze 2: 77 Margaret Burleigh (31) 81 Norma Butterworth (29) and Margaret Hewison (29) card countback.

Harrogate Union Ladies Bronze Division Championship

Belle Brown won the individual best gross in the Championship which was played at Ripon City Golf Club, with an excellent round of 94 on this challenging course and her 22 handicap will now he reduced. Well done Belle!. The Ladies team also performed well and finished 24 in the gross result

Romanby GC

OTuesday Romanby held its annual Pro-am competition sponsored by Blake Newport when 32 teams took part.

Last Thursday saw the Ladies Club Championships take place over 27 holes sponsored by Julie and Gladys Craven.

The Novice Cup was also held as a Stableford Competition.
