VIKING raiders will descend on Barnard Castle, when medieval re-enactment group Anmod Dracan pays a visit later this month.
The castle was once owned by Richard III, but was originally built by Norman knights following William the Conqueror's invasion of England in 1066.
On July 27 and 28, warriors, dressed in period costumes, including steel helmets and mail shirts, will demonstrate hand-to-hand fighting techniques with swords, axes and spears.

Admission prices to the festival are £3.50 for adults, £3 for concessions, and £2.50 for children.
