A DATE has been set for a public meeting to discuss the idea of a new twin town for Richmond.
The town already enjoys formal links with Nord Fron in Norway, and mayor Stuart Parsons and town clerk Peter Clarke depart on the latest five-day exchange trip at the end of the month.
On Thursday, September 12, a meeting will be held in Richmond Town Hall to discuss if the town should forge a new partnership with St Aubin-du-Cormier, in Brittany in northern France.
The community is of a similar size and shares a similar history, in that it grew up around a fortress built by Pierre De Dreux, who was Earl of Brittany and Duke of Richmond from 1213 to 1237.
If the debate generates sufficient interest in a partnership, a steering committee will be formed to plan the way ahead.
