A COLLEGE is going on the road throughout Teesside with a new mobile learning unit as part of a scheme to widen access to further education.
Stockton and Billingham College has secured European Social Fund support, and is now able to offer local community groups across the area IT and related training.
The mobile facility, called the Local (Learning Opportunities for Community Adult Learners) Learning Bus, will be able to offer places for up to 12 learners at a time on courses that include information technology and communication and numeracy skills.
This includes the use of lap top computers, printers and the latest IT software.
The project, which has been set up to meet the training, information and guidance needs of the local community, now aims to promote adult lifelong learning in target areas where no provision currently exists.
It also plans to build on programmes currently offered in community based learning centres.
The college is now looking for individuals or groups who would like to make use of the free facilities, particularly those from the target areas of Norton, Ragworth, Tilery, Parkfield, Portrack, Hardwick and Roseworth.
