Tim Easterby knows exactly what it takes to win today's big race at Newbury - the Weatherbys Super Sprint over five furlongs - having won it twice in the last four years with Flanders and Good Girl.

And the Great Habton trainer's Roman Mistress looks to hold sound each-way claims at around 12-1 for this season's renewal.

Following an encouraging debut run at Haydock, the filly duly stepped up on that effort when successful at Newcastle.

She was anything but disgraced at Ripon last time when second to the very speedy Inter Vision, who franked the form when successful at Chester last time.

The likely strong pace will play to her strengths and her high draw has been an advantage in recent runnings of this race.

Her stable have been in tremendous form of late and she's certainly open to further improvement as she fills out.

Dangers include Hurricane Alan and Wunders Dream and, at decent odds don't dismiss Danehill Stroller, who could go well if getting the breaks.

Jim Goldie had a big handicap winner on terrestrial television last week and his Tony Tie should give another good account in the Ladbrokes.com Handicap over a mile. This normally consistent sort ran his heart out over a trip thought further than ideal in the competitive John Smith's Cup at York last weekend.

Kieren Fallon, who got the best out of him when the pair were successful at Hamilton last year, is back in the saddle and the combination are taken to beat Finished Article. Sir Mark Prescott's Foreign Affairs could be the one to be on in the Cantor Sport - Spread Free Steventon Stakes over a mile and a quarter. And he had a good blow out when successfully dictating matters on his reappearance at Doncaster last month.

He's sure to be all the better for that run and he's from a stable that are in tremendous form at present. There's better to come this year.

At Ripon a high draw is essential on the round course in big fields and Pageant makes plenty of appeal in the Centaur Selling Stakes over a mile. Drawn 20 of 20 this afternoon, the five-year-old did the business over this course and distance three outings ago when also favourably drawn.

She's been anything but disgraced since then from moderate draws but, back in this very modest company, she's a very interesting runner for her in-form yard.

John Dunlop's Persian Lightning is a progressive sort who can notch his third win of the year in the Ripon Bell-Ringer Handicap over a mile and a half.

The three-year-old looks sure to be suited by the step up to this trip and he's preferred to Oldenway, with whom he's closely matched on this term's Pontefract form.

There's plenty of competitive racing at Market Rasen's afternoon fixture and Kevin Ryan's Gralmano looks interesting in the McCallum Corporate Consulting Summer Hurdle over two miles and one furlong.

This son of Scenic has won three from four over hurdles and his recent efforts on the Flat strongly suggest he's at the top of his game.

Although this represents his toughest task to date over hurdles, it's a fair bet there's more to come and he seems impervious to the state of the ground. Demasta really has been a progressive sort over fences and he'll be hard to keep out of the money in the Tote Scoop6 Summer Plate Showcase Handicap over two and a half miles.

Although his recent form is over two miles, he has won over this course and distance and, unless the ground deteriorates, he's sure to go well. At Lingfield's evening meeting Jeremy Noseda, who has such a good strike-rate on sand this winter, can be on the mark with All Business in the mile and a half maiden and Anna Kareena in the fillies handicap over two furlongs shorter.

All Business has shown ability on all her outings to date, including on this surface and the way she runs and the way she's bred leads one to believe she'll improve again now she's upped to this trip.

Anna Kareena looked a progressive sort when successful at Hamilton and at Chester and she's worth another chance after a disappointing run on her handicap debut. This surface could well be in her favour and, as she's only lightly-raced, she's one of the few in this field who are open to further improvement.

On the Fibresand at Wolverhampton Blushing Prince looks the one to be now he's down in grade in the seller over his optimum trip of the extended nine furlongs.
