ACTORS from the TV soap Emmerdale swapped their wellies for football boots at the weekend.
And they proved that while stardom may not have gone to their heads it has certainly gone to their feet - as they thrashed their not-so-famous opposition by seven goals to two.
Hundreds of people turned out to Masham Sports Club yesterday to see the soap stars take on a team from the Black Sheep Brewery.
The event was in aid of the Leukaemia Research Fund, and although there was no admission fee the event raised more than £1,000.
As well as the action on the pitch, things were busy on the touchlines with a jazz band, bouncy castle, bar and raffle.
Organiser Claire Sanderson, marketing coordinator for the brewery, said: "It was fantastic and went much better than I had dared to hope. We were aiming to raise up to £1,000, and although the cash is still coming in we have well exceeded that already."
