THE first two-day music festival held in Durham city centre has been hailed a success.
A one-day event held on Sundays in the Market Place has been an annual attraction since 1991.
But Durham City Forum expanded it to include Saturday and combine it with a first mini-motor show.
Saturday featured four different styles of jazz - from traditional to jazz funk - at different venues, including the Gala Theatre's cafe bar.
Yesterday, a stage was erected in the Market Place and the programme ranged from the Houghton Area Youth Brass Band to County Durham's internationally renowned band, The Whisky Priests.
The mini motor show featured displays by local gar-ages.
City centre manager Chris Rawlinson said: "This is the first time we have done it on two days and combined it with the motor show.
"It has been getting more and more popular each year and we are keen to make sure there are lots of interesting things going on in the city centre. It made sense to expand it."
