NURSERY children have said farewell to their headteacher, who is retiring after 14 years in charge.
Sheila Finn is stepping down as head of Aclet Close Nursery School, in Bishop Auckland, to spend more time with her family and in her garden.
The 61-year-old will first fly to Canada to visit her sister, before returning home to being her retirement.
But Mrs Finn is not giving up teaching altogether, and intends to take on supply work, covering for teachers who are off school.
She said: "My happiest times have been actually being with the children and teaching them. There have been some lovely children, and the parents are really supportive as well."
