THE future of a project aimed at helping fledgling businesses get off the ground will become clearer early next year.
Hambleton District Council has revealed plans for purpose-built industrial units to be created in Stokesley, giving new firms both a base to start from and crucial business advice.
The authority is hoping to build the office block in Ellerbeck Way, in the centre of the town's industrial park, and says larger premises nearby will help thriving businesses in the process of moving up when they no longer need the initial sheltered environment.
A report from the authority's planning director, Steve Quartermain, says a decision on whether European cash can be allocated to the scheme is likely to come in January. The design of the units will also be the focus of an architectural competition.
Mr Quartermain said: "The project is progressing well towards a bid for European funding. Partners are being brought on board and the architectural competition should provide positive high-profile coverage."
